Christ Church, Stellarton, to celebrate 160 years – a number of fall events
Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton, will be celebrating its 160th anniversary this coming month. A number of special events and services will be taking place.
This coming Sunday, October 2, there will be baptisms and a youth service. Harvest Thanksgiving will be celebrated the following weekend, October 9.
On Sunday, October 16, Archbishop Arthur Peters will be celebrating at the 11:00am service, along with some past rectors, current clergy, and laity of Christ Church.
A roast beef dinner will be catered at First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, on Saturday, October 22, beginning at 5:00pm. Cost is $12 for adults. For all who would like to join us for supper, please call the A.C.P.C. office, 752-6422, by Friday, October 14.
On Sunday, October 23, we are invited to dress as people would, coming to Church in 1861 (when Christ Church was built). Further information can be found in the church bulletin, or by calling the A.C.P.C. office, 752-6422.
On Saturday, October 29, there will be a night of entertainment for members of the congregation, beginning at 7:00pm.
On Sunday, October 30, there will be a prayer service at 3:00pm, with tea to follow. Other congregations and guests are most welcome to join us.
If anyone has pictures of Christ Church – the people, the building, and events – from past and present, we would be grateful to be able to borrow them and to copy them. Please call Julie Wynands, 752-8085, if you have pictures to loan.
A sincere thank you to all those – members of the Refugee Committee and others -- who provided practical help for the new Canadian we sponsored to get settled over the past couple of months, as part of our outreach work.
On Sunday, November 6, after the 11:00am service, parishioner Harold Otto will be speaking about the Reformation and the implications for today. Parishioners are invited to bring a sandwich, and to learn more about our heritage and what it can mean today.
Congratulations to parishioner Ethel Purvis, who celebrated her 105th birthday in fine style this past Sunday afternoon, along with a number of parishioners and friends.
Parishioners and friends, please note, there may be some disruption to the west hall stairs over the next few weeks, as they are being renovated to provide access to the hall for everyone.
Services at Christ Church are held Sundays at 8:00 and 11:00am, and Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm. For Sunday School, please contact Carol Dunn at 752-4070. Please also learn about other ministries we offer on our web-site.
